Biography
Professor Binayak S. Choudhury obtained his Ph. D. degree from University of Calcutta, India. He joined Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology , Shibpur, West Bengal, India as a faculty in 1995 where he is Full Professor since 2003. He has a teaching experience of more than two decades in post-graduate courses of mathematics. He has served his Institute in administration as Head of the Department of Mathematics and Dean of the Faculty. He is also member of several bodies, committees, etc .within India and abroad. He has published about 250 research papers in areas of pure mathematics, applied mathematics and theoretical physics. Particularly he has a special interest in fixed point theory and related fields in which he has published about 125 research papers. He has also worked on quantum entanglement and its uses in quantum communication problems. He is also interested in spacetime geometry and cosmology in which he has several publications. Through his research in fixed point theory he has introduced several new concepts . He has initiated two new directions of research in fixed point theory. There are 17 research students who have obtained their Ph.D. degrees under his supervision . Presently another 10 students are pursuing their research for Ph.D.degree under his supervision. He has delivered academic lectures very widely in different Institutes and Universities across the world. He is a lover of nature and environment
