Biography

Dr. Dennis Ikpe earned his Ph.D. from the University of Cape Town, a BSc. Honors in Mathematics from the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, a Second BSc. Honors in Advanced Mathematics of Finance from Wits University, Johannesburg, MSc. in Stochastic Analysis from the University of South Africa, a second MSc. in Technologies and Design of Online Instructional Material from the University of Maryland. He served as African Presidential Scholar at the University of Michigan, studying information-based models for pricing credit risky assets. Dr. Dennis Ikpe worked as a quantitative analyst for Stanbic IBTC bank in Lagos. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of South Africa, Mathematical Science Department, College of Science Engineering and Technology where he teaches Numerical Analysis, Stochastic Analysis, Optimal Control and Financial Risk Management and serve as supervisor to final year students, masters and PhD students in the area of Financial Mathematics and Risk Management since 2009. He is the founding director of Maths Edge, a flagship project of the University of South Africa aimed at demystifying and creating awareness on the real-life applications of Mathematics to young African students.”
